Our new Rego to RedBook ID service enables a match to a RedBook vehicle description and RedBook Code from an Australian registration plate. The new service will improve your efficiency and accuracy in identifying vehicles and is available via an API or our new Web Look-Up Rego Plate to ID service.
Please note that this is a subscription service for business customers. The general public wanting to check the information on a single vehicle such as its stolen or written off status, or whether any finance is owing can purchase a CarFacts History Report

NEVDIS Vehicle identification data
Who are NEVDIS?
The National Exchange of Vehicle and Driver Information System (NEVDIS) is a national system that exchanges information about vehicles. NEVDIS is a unique national database of all registered vehicles in Australia. NEVDIS was established in 1998 and is owned by Austroads on behalf of the eight states and territory jurisdictions who contribute information. In addition to information supplied by road agencies, NEVDIS collects VIN data for compliance from vehicle manufacturers/importers and stolen information from police.
How do I access the NEVDIS data?
RedBook are an approved broker to enable our customers to access the NEVDIS vehicle data via an integrated API solution. The API is easily set up for you to consume. Why should I access this product?
If you are looking to improve your efficiency and accuracy to identify a vehicle, this can be done via the registration number and state to obtain a VIN number. You can then obtain identification information on the vehicle as well as some vehicle history. This integrated approach can be more efficient than a traditional drop down menu system via a vehicle database.
